Accounts Payable/Payroll Clerk
Midwest Mountaineering is an independent, specialty outdoor store dedicated to helping people have fun outdoors since 1970. We are a passionate community of dedicated outdoor enthusiasts – hikers, backpackers, paddlers, climbers and more. Love of the outdoors is a qualification for this job! Our team of dedicated sales and office staff share our outdoor passion and we share many activities together. And we’re dog friendly – well behaved dogs are welcome in this position.
Process all vendor payables timely, and match accurately with invoices and receiving using Quickbooks. Ensure that the supporting backup complies with all internal control and tax requirements. Allocate payments to the proper expense accounts. Produce and reconcile 1099’s. Communicate with vendors buyers, receivers and the Head Bookkeeper to resolve any payables problems on a timely basis. Process bi-weekly payroll with payroll vendor, ADP. Accurately enter confidential data and maintain employee files in accordance with company policy. Import hours from timeclock software. Proof all payroll information input before payroll checks are finalized. Process employee change notices, new hires, rate changes, W-4’s, direct deposit changes, and other miscellaneous employee information. Work with payroll vendor to resolve any payroll software problems. Track vacation and sick time and communicate with management and staff related to these. Process health insurance and other benefits payments and payroll deductions, as well as prepare year-end W-2’s Communicate with employees professionally, confidentially and accurately regarding payroll matters.
3 years accounts payable and payroll experience, preferably, but not necessarily, in a retail environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Experience with Microsoft Office applications Experience with QuickBooks preferred but training will be provided.
